Abu Simbel at night photo copyrighted by: FlyingMonk The town of Abu Simbel is situated about 275km south of Aswan on the western shore of Lake Nasser and 50km from the border between Egypt and Sudan. The temple was dedicatede to the triad Amon-Ra, Harmakes, Ptah and Ramesses II.
