Aqaba Red Sea photo copyrighted by: Brian McMorrow Occupied and fortified by the Crusaders in 1115, Aqaba was retaken by Saladin in 1187.
The history of the castle is qite interesting, It was iniatialy built by the Crusaders and
then the Mamluckes came and expanded it.
