Convento De Guadalupe photo copyrighted by: Alan Cogan Zacatecas ranks first in all of Mexico in the production of beans, chiles and nopales,
second in guava production and third in grapes, with some local wineries offering
vino for tasting and sale. The state has suffered a drought in recent years,
affecting both the agriculture and cattle industries, but the descendants of the
people who held off the mighty Aztec army have persevered and continue to turn out some of the best cooking in Mexico.
