Conwy Castle History photo copyrighted by: Brian McMorrow The castle saw some activity during the Civil War (1642-51), but when it was slighted at the end of the
war the castle was stripped of saleable materials leaving an empty shell. It had 70 foot high walls and eight drum towers over 30 foot in diameter and was surrounded by water on three sides.
