Great Wall, China photo copyrighted by: Galen R. Frysinger The Great Wall concept was revived again during the Ming Dynasty following the Ming army's defeat by the Oirats in the Battle of Tumu
in 1449. Rows of 3-meter-high Barrier Walls were built leading to the enemy
towers to protect the towers. Some of the towers are storerooms as well. They were used to store food, hay and weapons.
