Guadalajara photos photo copyrighted by: VICTOR OVIES On the 27th of May of 1824, Guadalajara became the capital of the State of Jalisco. On February 14 1542, the first city council of Guadalajara was established. The Emperor Charles V of Germany and I of Spain, granted it the title of City and gave it its coat of arms that is still used today.
