Karnak Temples photo copyrighted by: Galen R. Frysinger The Karnak Temple via a long stone processional street called a dromos. The dromos was built by Nectanebo I and originally was lined on either side by sphinxes. The sphinxes with the heads of rams, sacred to Amon, represent the god that protected the Pharaoh protrayed by animals' paws.
