Luxor Sphinx photo copyrighted by: Galen R. Frysinger During the Roman occupation of Egypt, Luxor Temple was surrounded by a vast military encampment which may have housed as many as 1500 men. The Temple of Luxor contains structures from many periods, the earliest dating from the 12th Dynasty.
