Nymphenburg Palace Building photo copyrighted by: Brian McMorrow The building of the palace was commissioned by the Kurfürst couple Ferdinand Maria and Henriette Adelaide of Savoy to Agostino Barelli in 1664 after the birth of their son Max Emmanuel. The large Baroque style palace northwest of Munich was started in 1664 and took more than 150 years to complete.
