Pembroke Castle History photo copyrighted by: Brian McMorrow Pembroke Castle has a long and fascinating history, for it was around 1093 that Arnulf de Montgomery built the small inner bailey standing at the end of the promontory. The orginal stone castle at Pembroke was constructed by
William Marshall, Earl of Pembroke, about 1200. Since
Dan is a direct descendant of William Marshall, the castle holds special meaning.
