remodeled in the sixteenth century, becoming the symbol of Medici power in Pisa.
The square has some magnificent sixteenth century buildings, the church of Santo Stefano dei Cavalieri, and the Palazzo dell'Orologio (clock building) with two ancient towers joined by an arcade.
