Reichstag Location photo copyrighted by: Brian McMorrow In 1933 fire broke out in the building, destroying much
of the Reichstag. The inscription "Dem Deutschen Volke" ("To the German
people") was only added in 1916 during the First World
War, because Wilhelm II. had previously been against it.
