 Roman Aqueducts Spain photo copyrighted by: Brian McMorrow The entrance gate to the historic quarter of Segovia is the Roman Aqueduct, in the plaza del Azoguejo. This jewel of engineering, built under the Roman empire (Ist c.), brought water to the high
city from 15 kilometres away. Constructed around AD 50 during the reign of the Roman
Emperor Trajan out of some 200,400 granite blocks, It is about 2950 feet long although the section where the arches
are divided in two levels is about 900 feet.
