Royal Cambodia Palace photo copyrighted by: Brian McMorrow Cambodia's Royal Palace complex was begun by King
Norodom (1834-1904) in 1886, when the capital was moved
to Phnom Penh.
Many of the buildings of the Royal Palace, particularly
of this period, were constructed using traditional
Khmer architectural and artistic style but also
incorporating significant European features and design
as well.
