Temple of the five floors photo copyrighted by: VICTOR OVIES One of the most important cities in the Yucatan was Edzna. It is a Maya archaeological site in the Mexican state of Campeche. The site was inhabited from the Middle Pre-Classic (600 BC) to the Post Classic Period (1450 AD). The site has an abundance of architectural complexes and the most famous is that of the Temple of the Five Stories. This pyramid like structure measures 197 x 197 feet at the base and stands about 98 feet high. It is described as a Late Classic pyramid-palace. The top of the pyramid has a large architectural crest that is a traditional feature of the Classic Maya.
