Temple of the Sun photo copyrighted by: Galen R. Frysinger The Temple of Sun is decorated with a "Sun Shield" that may symbolize the birth of the sun. The Temple of the Sun was erected around the seventh century. This temple is located between the Palace and the Temple of the Foliated Cross, on the eastern side of Otolum River. The preservation of the roof comb on this temple exemplifies the distinctly Mayan architecture.
