The National Palace photo copyrighted by: Galen R. Frysinger The National Palace boasts a large number of handsome rooms laid out around fourteen courtyards, only some of which are open to visitors. From the arcaded Grand Courtyard a staircase leads up to the first floor. The National Palace was built with the stones of the Casas Nuevas of Moctezuma, the defeated Aztec emperor.
