Archangel Cathedral Building photo copyrighted by: Brian McMorrow The cathedral was built between 1505 and 1508 by the
Italian architect Alevisio Novi on the site of an ancient cathedral of the same name.
The cathedral contains frescoes dating to the 16th and 17th centuries painted by Yakov of Kazan, Stepan of
Ryazan, Joseph Vladimirov and others.
