Gasherbrum II is generally considered one of the easiest 8000 meter peaks, though like any mountain of its stature, an ascent is not to be taken lightly. It was first climbed on July 8, 1956 by Fritz Moravec, Josef Larch and Hans Willenpart of an Austrian expedition.
